“I found out more about myself in the woods than anywhere else.”

Amy Layton (1972-)
Amy joined the USO and spent her time watching soldiers going off to war and then welcoming troops back home, “It was emotionally draining,” says Amy. One day Amy met the love of her life and also watched him leave for active duty. A year later he returned injured and Amy began her fight to get him the medical care he needed and deserved. She realized wounded soldiers needed a place to recuperate and rejuvenate. The idea of Liberty Lodge was born, “we decided to help those who weren’t getting it.” Amy’s hunting lodge and retreat helps soldiers (at no cost to them). Why? Amy says, “They deserve that much.”
