“I have found adventure in flying, in world travel, in business, and even close at hand... Adventure is a state of mind - and spirit.”

Jackie Cochran (1906-1980)
Jackie holds more international speed, distance and altitude records that any other pilot – male or female. She shattered aviation records and broke gender boundaries. She was the first female pilot to break the sound barrier, the first woman to fly a bomber plane across the Atlantic, and the first woman to make a blind landing. It was her push for women’s rights that allowed her and Amelia Earhart to compete in the prestigious Bendix race. She owed, and ran her own multi-million dollar cosmetics company. This is particularly extraordinary given the fact she grew up in poverty with foster parents. She didn’t own a pair of shoes until she was 9-years and picked her last name from a telephone book. She has been dubbed, “One of a kind.”
