The very Victorian, Gingerbread House is replete with the celebratory romance of a bygone age.  The Gingerbread House boutique hotel, bed and breakfast inn, is a thrill for the senses; a literal visual feast.  It has won more awards than you can name, or possibly even count.  But they are well deserved and you won’t be disappointed if you are lucky enough to secure a stay for a night or two.

Near secluded beaches, and the lush redwood forests, the area surrounding Ferndale is excellent for long leisurely walks or rigorous hikes.  The town of Ferndale, itself, is charming with an authentic vintage look and feel, and boasting ice cream shops, delicious restaurants, and numerous interesting boutiques.

The grand Gingerbread House is unmistakable when you see it.  She is a gorgeous piece of ‘peachy-colored’ architecture with intricate spindle work, impressive gables, and playful turrets.  The formal gardens around the house are lovely, and an ideal place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine.

Guests enjoy a lovely tea party upon arrival.  The deserts are yummy, homemade concoctions served on delicate china.  The afternoon tea is served in the formal public areas that are crammed with antiques, paintings and old-world knickknacks.  There is nothing not to love about this place.

The rooms (there are eleven) are thoughtfully decorated with antique furniture and luxury linens.  But make no mistake about the amenities – they are top drawer.  You’ll have Wi-Fi, and a flat panel television for your enjoyment.  The Gingerbread house is a great place to step back in time and enjoy a quiet romantic weekend.   Alternatively, it is the perfect sanctuary to after a full day of fun local activities.  Either way, it’s a wonderful stay.
