In 2010, Sara Brandenburg became the youngest female to get a “Grand Slam.” The Grand Slam we’re talking about is hunting and falling the four North American Wild Sheep: Dall Sheep, Stone Sheep, Rocky Mountain Bighorn, and Desert Sheep. The record was previously held by a 31 year old woman. Sara was only fifteen when she broke the record.
Sara started hunting at age two years and shot her first gun at three years old. She received “Youth Hunter of the Year,” in her Colorado hometown. An avid outdoorswoman she also fishes, shoots, and hikes (a New Year’s resolution is to spend more time hunting with her older sister in 2011).
Sara’s accomplishments extend beyond hunting. She earned her Black Belt in martial arts at age ten and plays volleyball and soccer. In school her favorite subject is Bible, and credits her family and God for her success. She has sixteen pets, including a Springer Spaniel, German Shorthair, Black Lab and a loveable mutt.
Sara’s current goal is hunting the Super Ten (ten big game animals including the Mountain Lion and Grizzly Bear). Additionally, she hopes to encourage youth to get involved in the outdoors. Beyond 2011, Sara is looking forward to graduating from high school and going on to college. She hopes to host her own television show someday and of course, break more world records!
